1Teacher, the line of Svayambhuva has been heard here at length, and in it the bringing forth by the makers of the world. Now tell us of the other Manus. 2Wherever the wise sing the births and the acts of Hari, who is greater than all, brahmin, tell us those, while we listen. 3Whatever, brahmin, the Bhagavan, who brings the world into being, has done in each such age, or does, or is to do, in what is past, in what has not come, or now. 4Six Manus have gone by in this world-age, beginning with Svayambhuva. The first was told to you, and in his time the gods and the rest came to be.
