There was a great sound of conches and trumpets and drums and other instruments, and of the followers of the gods with their women, dancing and singing. Brahma and Rudra and Angiras at their head, all the makers of the world praised the mighty one with mantras that do not fail and that point at him, and rained flowers down. The gods, looked upon by Sri, and the lords of creatures, and the creatures, came to be full of character and the other good qualities, and reached the highest ease. But the Daityas and the Danavas, king, when Laksmi passed them over, became spiritless, greedy, without any enterprise, and lost their shame.

Then came the goddess Varuni, a girl with eyes like lotuses; and the demons took her for themselves, with Hari's leave.
