For those who take their stand in battle, whose acts are driven on by time, fame and victory and defeat and death all come, each in its turn. Seeing that this world is roped by time, the wise neither take joy in it nor grieve over it. In this you have no learning. We do not take up your words, that strike where it hurts, spoken by men whom the good must pity, who think the self is the means by which anything is done there. Having taunted the mighty one in this way, the hero who crushes heroes struck him with iron shafts drawn back to the ear, and spoke to him again with taunts. Put down like this by an enemy who spoke the truth, the god could not bear that abuse, like an elephant struck with the goad.

The crusher of enemies hurled at him the bolt that does not miss, and he fell to the ground with his car, like a mountain whose wings had been cut away.
