God of gods, who pervade the world, lord of the world, made of the world: of all things whatever that are, you are the self, the cause, the Lord. The beginning of this and its end, and what lies between; this thing and that other; I, and what is outside: none of these belong to you, who do not wear away. You are that which is real, Brahman, awareness itself. It is your lotus foot and no other that sages attend upon, who want what is best and ask for nothing, having let go of attachment on both sides. You are Brahman, full, deathless, without strands, without sorrow, nothing but bliss, unchanging, not other and yet other; the cause of the rising and the standing and the drawing in of everything, the Lord who is the self; and because everything depends on you, you depend on nothing.

You alone are one: what is and what is not, the two and what is not two, as gold worked and unworked is no difference in the substance. Out of not knowing, people set divisions upon you; and from that comes the mingling of the strands in you, who carry no limiting mark. Some hold you to be Brahman, some to be dharma, some the Person beyond what is and what is not, the highest Lord; others hold you to be the highest, joined with nine powers; some, the great Person, unspent, standing on yourself. Neither I, nor the one whose span is highest, nor the sages with Marici at their head know what you have fashioned, and we are born of clarity. How much less those whose wits your maya has stolen, Lord, Daityas and mortals and the rest, whose ways are always ill.

You who set all this going, the standing and the birth and the undoing of the world, the strivings of beings, the binding to becoming and the release from it: you take it all in as knowing, since it is all made of you, as the wind enters the sky and everything called moving and unmoving.
