Manu, son of Vivasvat, is known as Sraddhadeva. He is the seventh, and the one whose period is running now. Hear from me who his children are. Iksvaku and Nabhaga, Dhrsta and Saryati, Narisyanta and then Nabhaga; the seventh is called Dista. Tarusa and Prsadhra, and the tenth is remembered as Vasuman. These are the ten sons of Manu the son of Vivasvat, burner of foes. The Adityas, the Vasus, the Rudras, the All-gods, the companies of Maruts, the two Asvins and the Rbhus, king; and the Indra among them is the breaker of forts. Kasyapa, Atri and Vasistha, Visvamitra and then Gautama, Jamadagni and Bharadvaja: these are remembered as the seven sages.

In this period too there was a birth of the Bhagavan: of Kasyapa and Aditi, Visnu, the youngest of the Adityas, wearing the form of a dwarf. I have told you the seven periods of the Manus in brief. Now I will tell you those that are to come, and how the power of Visnu goes with them.
