4Has no harm come now to the brahmins, good woman, nor to dharma, nor to this world of people that goes wherever death chooses? 5Or has something gone amiss in the house, keeper of the household, where dharma and wealth and desire are joined together for those who have no yoga? 6Or have guests come and gone away from the house unhonoured, without even your rising to meet them, because you were caught up in your own family? 7In houses where guests are not honoured, not even with water, if such guests go away, those houses are surely like the den of a jackal king. 8Or were the fires not fed with the offering at their hour, true wife, by you with your mind uneasy, good woman, at some time when I was away?
9By the honouring of these a householder goes to the worlds that give what is wished for. The brahmin and the fire are the mouth of Visnu, who is the self of all the gods. 10And are your sons all well, thoughtful woman? By the signs upon you I make out that you are not well in yourself.
