The teacher's curse· Verses 12–15

Even if he should bind me through wrongdoing, when I have done no wrong, still I will not do harm to him: an enemy who is afraid, in the body of a brahmin. Or if this is he whose renown is highest, who will not let his fame go, then let him kill me and carry her off in battle, or let him lie killed by me. So the teacher, sent by fate, laid a curse on his pupil, who would not trust him and would not do as he was told: a man of spirit, bound to the truth. You are thoroughly stiff with pride, thinking yourself learned and knowing nothing, and you make light of us. You who go beyond what I command will soon fall from your fortune.
