So, king, having begged the earth from Bali, Hari the dwarf gave to his brother, the great Indra, the heaven that others had taken. Brahma, master of the lords of creatures, with the gods and the sages and the fathers and the kings of the earth, with Daksa and Bhrgu and Angiras at their head, with the Kumara and with Bhava, for the pleasing of Kasyapa and Aditi and for the thriving of every living thing, made the dwarf the lord of the worlds and of the guardians of the worlds: lord of the Vedas, of all the gods, of dharma, of fame, of fortune, of what is auspicious and of vows, the one who orders both heaven and release.

So he set Upendra up as lord over every greatness. And then, king, all beings were glad beyond measure. Then Indra put the dwarf before him and, with the guardians of the worlds and with Brahma's agreement, took him up to heaven in the chariot of the gods. And Indra, having got the three worlds back and guarded by Upendra's arm, was joined to the highest fortune, and with his fear gone he was glad.
