54To the king who had spoken so, the Bhagavan, the first Person in the shape of a fish, moving about on the great sea, told what is real. 55the heavenly collection of the ancient telling, with its enumeration and its yoga and its rites, the secret of the self entire, to Satyavrata the royal sage; 56and seated in the boat he heard, together with the sages, what the self truly is, past all doubting, the everlasting Brahman spoken by the Bhagavan. 57When the dissolution had gone by and passed away, and the Ordainer had risen up, Hari killed the demon Hayagriva and brought the Vedas back to him. 58And that king Satyavrata, joined to knowledge and to the knowing of it in himself, became by Visnu's favour, in this age, the Manu who is Vivasvat's son.
59Hearing this great telling, the talk between Satyavrata the royal sage and the bearer of the Sarnga bow who was the fish of maya, a man is loosed from what he has done wrong. 60The man who tells out this descent of Hari day after day: what he sets his mind on comes about, and he goes to the highest way. 61In the waters of dissolution he killed the son of Diti and took back the body of scripture that had been carried off from the mouths of the Ordainer, whose power was asleep; and he told Brahman to those whose vow is truth. To him, the cause of everything, the fish that goes aslant, I bow.
