The highest Person, who is the self of beings high and low, he alone was this whole world at the end of the age, and there was nothing else. From his navel came a golden lotus cup, and in it, great king, was born the Self-born with four faces. From his mind Marici was born, and of Marici, Kasyapa; and then of Aditi, the daughter of Daksa, came the son Vivasvat. From him, in Samjna, came Manu Sraddhadeva, Bharata; and he, master of himself, begot ten sons in Sraddha. Iksvaku, Nrga, Saryati, Dista, Dhrsta and Karusaka, and Narisyanta, and Prsadhra, and Nabhaga, and Kavi: these the mighty one begot.
