9The teacher of the line cursed him, who had done the wrong without meaning to: You are not even a kshatriya in name only; by this act you will become a sudra. 10So cursed by the teacher, he took it upon himself with palms joined; and that hero held to a vow that sages hold dear, his seed drawn upward. 11By devotion he came to be undivided in Vasudeva the Bhagavan, the self of all, the highest, the unstained; and he was the friend of every living thing and even toward them all. 12Loosed from attachment, quiet in himself, his senses held in, owning nothing, he made his living out of whatever came to him by chance. 13Setting the self in the self, filled full by knowledge and gathered together, he wandered this earth looking like a dull man, blind and deaf.
14Living so, that sage went into a forest, and seeing a wild fire risen there he gave his instruments to it and reached the highest Brahman.
