As he was about to make it his own, a man dark to look at came up from the north and said to him: This wealth left on the ground is mine. This was given to me by the sages, said Manu's descendant. Then let the question between the two of us go to your father. And he asked his father accordingly. Everything left over on a sacrificial ground the sages once made into a share for Rudra. That god has a right to all of it. Nabhaga bowed to him and said: Lord, what is left on the ground is indeed yours. So my father tells me. Brahmin, with my head down I ask your favour. What your father told you is dharma, and you speak the truth. To you, who see the mantras, I give knowledge, the everlasting Brahman.

Take the wealth that was given, the leavings of my session. Saying this Rudra vanished, the revered one who is tender to what is true. Whoever remembers this in the morning and in the evening with a settled mind becomes wise, and a knower of the mantras, and comes to know the way his own self goes.
