49Seeing it run at him, and his own effort come to nothing, Durvasas ran in fear through the quarters, trying to save his life. 50The Bhagavan's wheel ran after him as a forest fire with its flames blown up runs after a snake. Seeing it fastened on him so, the sage made for Meru, wanting to get inside a cave. 51He went to the quarters, to the sky, to the earth, to the hollows under it, to the seas, to the worlds with their guardians, to heaven; and wherever he ran, there he saw the Sudarsana, not to be borne. 52Getting no protector anywhere at all, his mind terrified, looking about for a refuge, he came to the god Virinca: Ordainer, born of yourself, save me from the burning power of the Unconquered.
53This place of mine, and this whole world along with it, will disappear at the end of his play, at the term called the two parardhas, by the mere bending of a brow of his when he means to burn it: his, whose very self is time. 54I, and Bhava, and Daksa and Bhrgu at their head, and the chief lords of creatures and of beings and of gods: all of us have come under his rule, and we carry on our heads what he lays there for the world's good. 55Turned away by Virinca and scorched by Visnu's disc, Durvasas went for refuge to Sarva, who lives on Kailasa.
