53Having lived so in his house for a while, he grew unattached, took up renunciation, and went to the forest; and his wives, to whom their husband was god, went after him. 54There, doing sharp austerity that brings the seeing of the self, having himself in hand, he joined himself, together with his fires, to the supreme Self. 55Great king, seeing that inward going of their husband, they went after him by his own power, as the flames go after a fire that has died down.
