41Rama, with Laksmana and Sita, bowed himself to the brahmins, who were the most worthy of honour, and the people bowed to him. 42Shaking out their upper garments at the sight of their lord come home after so long, the men of northern Kosala scattered garlands and danced for joy. 43Bharata took up the sandals; Vibhisana and Sugriva took the finest yak-tail fans; the son of the wind took the white parasol; 44Satrughna took the bow and the quivers, Sita the water pot from the holy fords; Angada carried the sword, and the king of the bears the golden shield, king. 45Standing in the Puspaka, with the women around him and hymned by the bards, the Bhagavan shone, king, like the moon risen among the planets.
46Welcomed by his brother, he then entered the city, which was keeping festival; and going into the royal house he came to the wives of his elders and to his own mother, 47and to his elders, his companions, his juniors. He was honoured, and he honoured them back. Videha's daughter and Laksmana went to each of them in the right way.
