The Bhagavan Rama, with a teacher to guide him, worshipped his own self by himself, the god who is made of all the gods, with sacrifices of the highest kind. The mighty one gave the eastern quarter to the caller, the southern to the brahman priest, the western to the one who does the acts, and the northern to the singer of the Saman. To the teacher he gave what was left, all the land lying between, thinking that a brahmin who wants nothing deserves this whole earth. So he was left with nothing but his ornaments and his clothes; and the queen too, Videha's daughter, was left with nothing but the marks of a married woman.
