20This is not the glory of the lord of the Raghus, who took a body for play at the asking of the gods and whose home is past all likeness and past anything higher: the killing of the raksasa, the binding of the sea with piled weapons. Why would he need monkeys to help him kill an enemy? 21His spotless renown, which destroys wrong, sages still sing in the assemblies of kings; it is the badge on the brows of the elephants that hold the quarters. To the lord of the Raghus, whose lotus feet the crowns of the guardians of heaven and of wealth have touched, I go for refuge. 22Those of Kosala who touched him, or looked at him, or sat with him, or walked behind him, went to that place where yogins go.
23A man who takes what Rama did into himself by hearing it, and who sets his face against cruelty, king, is let loose from the bonds of his works.
