And she became the Kausiki, greatly holy, who cleanses the world. It was Renu's daughter Renuka whom Jamadagni married. By her the Bhargava sage had sons, Vasuman and the rest of them. The youngest born among these was the one widely known as Rama. They say he was a portion of Vasudeva, and the end of the Haihaya line, and that three times seven times over he made this earth a place without kshatriyas. He destroyed the swollen kshatriya class, a burden on the earth and no friend to the brahmins. Wrapped in passion and darkness as it was, he struck it down, though the wrong done had been small. What was that wrong done against the Bhagavan by kshatriyas whose selves were untamed, that the line of the kshatriyas was destroyed for it again and again?
