17Arjuna, overlord of the Haihayas, a bull among kshatriyas, worshipped Datta, a portion of a portion of Narayana, with his services and his attendance, 18and gained a thousand arms, and the quality of not being withstood by his enemies, and force of sense that nothing checked, and beauty, fire, valour, fame and strength; 19and mastery in yoga, and a lordship in which are the powers that begin with becoming small. He moved through the worlds with nothing to stop his going, as the wind moves. 20Surrounded by jewels of women, playing in the water of the Reva, wild with drink and wearing the Vaijayanti garland, he blocked the river with his arms.
21The waters of the river, turned back on their own course, flooded the camp of the ten-headed one, who thought himself a hero; and he could not bear that strength in the other man. 22He was seized as easily as in play, before the eyes of the women, his offence done; he was shut up in Mahismati, and then let go, the way one lets a monkey go.
