6Then Rama, urged on by his father, killed his brothers and his mother with them; for he knew well what force lay in the sage's gathered mind and in his austerity. 7Satyavati's son, pleased with him, offered him a boon; and Rama asked for the life of those who had been killed, and that they should have no memory of the killing. 8They stood up hale, as easily as when sleep comes to an end. It was because he knew the strength of his father's austerity that Rama had killed those he loved. 9The sons of Arjuna, king, remembering the killing of their father and beaten down by Rama's valour, found no ease anywhere at all.
