Once, king, Sarmistha saw Usanas' daughter with a fine child, and, being in her season and a true woman, she asked in private for her friend's husband. Asked for a child by the king's daughter, and looking to dharma, and knowing dharma, and remembering what Sukra had said, in that season what was ordained was what came about. Devayani bore Yadu, and Turvasu as well; and Sarmistha, the daughter of Vrsaparvan, bore Druhyu and Anu and Puru. Devayani, a proud woman, learned that her husband had got a child in the demon woman, and went off to her father's house, beside herself with anger. In love with her, he followed her, and coaxed her with words, and could not win her round, not by rubbing her feet nor by anything else.
