a son Dharmaratha, whose son Citraratha was born without children. He was known as Romapada, and his friend Dasaratha gave him his own daughter Santa, whom Rsyasrnga married: the son of the doe, whom, when the god was not raining, the women brought in with dance and song and playing, with coy turnings and embraces and honours. And he, laying out an offering to Indra for the childless king, gave him offspring, and by that Dasaratha, who had no children, got children. From Romapada came Caturanga, and his son was Prthulaksa. Brhadratha, Brhatkarman and Brhadbhanu were his sons. From the first came Brhanmanas, and from him, they say, Jayadratha.

On Sambhuti he had Vijaya, and from him Dhrti was born, and from him Dhrtavrata; his son was Satkarman, and then Adhiratha, who, at play on the bank of the Ganga, found a child inside a chest, cast away by Kunti and born to her before she married; and having no son himself he made the child his son.
