The revered Narada came and told this to Kamsa, and told him of the setting out to kill the Daityas who were becoming a burden to the earth. When the sage had gone, Kamsa thought the Yadus to be gods, and thought that Visnu, born of Devaki's womb, would be his death. He shut Devaki and Vasudeva in the house with chains, and killed each son as it was born to them, suspecting in each the one who is unborn. Kings on this earth, for the most part, greedy and feeding their own lives, kill their mother, their father, their brothers and all their friends. Knowing himself to be the great demon Kalanemi, born here again, killed before this by Visnu, he set himself against the Yadus.

And seizing his own father Ugrasena, lord of the Yadus and the Bhojas and the Andhakas, that man of great strength himself enjoyed the lands of the Surasenas.
