23Then, seeing this son of hers with the marks of the great Person, Devaki, frightened of Kamsa, ran to him with a bright smile. 24Devaki said: That form which they call the unmanifest, the first, Brahman, light, beyond the strands and without change, being and nothing else, without distinction, without effort: that is you, Visnu himself, the lamp of the inmost self. 25When the world is destroyed at the end of the two parardhas, when the great elements have gone into the first element, when the manifest has gone by the rush of time into the unmanifest, you alone are left over, and your name is Sesa. 26This time, which they call your working, by which the whole world is set working, friend of the unmanifest, beginning with a blink and ending with a year and greater still: to you, the ruler, the abode of safety, I come.
27A mortal, terrified of the snake of death, running away, has found no freedom from fear in all the worlds. Now, having reached your lotus foot as it happened, he lies down at ease in himself, and death goes away from him. 28So save us, who are terrified, from the fearful son of Ugrasena, you who take away the fear of those who serve you. And do not make this form of the Person, which is the seat of meditation, plain to eyes of flesh.
