20They bathed the little one with cow's water, and then with the dust the cows raised, and made a guard with cow dung, in twelve places on his body, with the names. 21The cowherd women touched water, set the seed syllables separately on their own limbs and on their two hands, and then did that setting on the child. 22Let the Unborn guard your feet, the jewel-bearer your knees, and the sacrifice your thighs; the Unfallen your hips and the horse-faced one your belly; Kesava your heart and the Lord your chest; the sun your throat, Visnu your arm, the wide-strider your face, and the Lord your head. 23Let the disc-bearer be in front of you and Hari with his mace behind; at your two sides, with bow and sword, the slayer of Madhu and the Unborn; at the corners with his conch, Urugaya; above you Upendra; on the ground Tarksya; and all around, the plough-bearer, the Person.
24Let the lord of the senses guard your senses and Narayana your breaths; let the lord of the White Island guard your thought, and the lord of yoga your mind. 25Let Prsnigarbha guard your understanding, and the Bhagavan, the highest, your self. Let Govinda guard you at your play, and Madhava as you sleep. 26Let him whom nothing hinders guard you as you walk, and the lord of Sri as you sit; let the eater of the sacrifice, who is a terror to every seizer, guard you as you eat.
