31Just then Nanda and the other cowherds came back to the camp from Mathura, and seeing Putana's body they were struck with the greatest wonder. 32Surely that man has become a sage, or he is a master of yoga: the very portent Anakadundubhi spoke of is the one we have seen. 33Those who lived in the camp cut the carcass up with axes, carried the pieces far off, laid them on wood and burned them. 34And the smoke of the body as it burned rose sweet as aloe wood, for its sin had been struck away at once when Krsna drank from it. 35Putana, killer of the world's children, a raksasa woman who fed on blood, gave Hari her breast even meaning to kill him, and reached the goal of the good.
