One day, while she was petting her son, who had climbed onto her lap, the good woman could not bear to carry the child's weight: he was like the top of a hill. Setting him down on the ground, the cowherd woman, astonished and hurt by the weight of him, thought of the great Person of the worlds and went about her work. A demon named Trnavarta, a servant of Kamsa, sent by him, in the shape of a whirlwind carried off the little one as he sat there, covering the whole cow settlement, stealing their eyes with dust, and setting the quarters and the spaces between them roaring with a most terrible noise. For a while the cattle yard was covered over with dust and with dark, and Yasoda did not see her son in the place where she had set him down.

No one saw himself, or anyone else either, bewildered and beaten upon by the gravel that Trnavarta flung.
