Entering Vrndavana, which is pleasant in every season, they made their settlement there with the carts drawn up like a half-moon. Looking at Vrndavana and Govardhana and the sandbanks of the Yamuna, Rama and Madhava took the highest delight in them, king. So, giving the people of Vraja delight with the doings of children and their sweet talk, in their own time the two became keepers of calves. Not far from the ground of Vraja, along with the cowherds' boys, the two pastured the calves, with all sorts of playthings about them. Sometimes the two of them played on the flute, sometimes they threw with slings, sometimes they made music with their feet and their ankle-bells, sometimes with make-believe bulls.

Playing the bull and bellowing, they fought with each other, and copying the animals in their cries they wandered about like ordinary boys.
