41Once, on the bank of the Yamuna, while Krsna and Bala were pasturing the calves with their friends, a Daitya came, meaning to kill them. 42Seeing him in the shape of a calf and gone in among the calves, Hari pointed him out to Baladeva and came up to him slowly, as though he had noticed nothing. 43The Unfallen took him by the hind legs together with the tail, whirled him round and flung him into the top of a wood-apple tree, and the life went out of him. That great body came down, and brought the wood-apples down with it. 44Seeing it, the boys were amazed and called out, Good, good; and the gods were well pleased and rained down flowers.
45So the two who alone keep all the worlds had become keepers of calves, and with their morning meal they wandered about pasturing the young cattle.
