Seeing him standing like that, they all took it for one of Vrndavana's fine sights, and in play they guessed it might be a python with its jaws open. Friends, tell us: this heap of a creature standing in front of us, is it a snake with its jaws open to swallow us, or is it not? It is so. That cloud reddened by the sun's rays is like the upper jaw, and the bank below, red with the reflection of it, is like the lower jaw. The two hollows of the hill on the left and the right are a match for the corners of a mouth, and these high peaks for its fangs. Look at them. This road stretching out its length answers back to a tongue; and this darkness lying inside them, this is the inside of the mouth.

Look, this rough wind, hot as a forest fire, seems like breath; and the stench of creatures burnt in it is like the smell of flesh in there. Will it swallow us if we go in? If it does, it will be destroyed in a moment by him, as Baka was. So they said, and looking at the bright face of Baka's enemy they went on, laughing and clapping their hands.
