24Those who see you, such as you are, as their own self and the self of all selves, self by way of self, with the good eye of the Upanisads got from the sun of a teacher: they cross the sea of untruth that this becoming is, as though it were nothing. 25For those who do not know the self as the self, all this spread-out world came into being out of that very self; and by knowledge it dissolves into it again, as a snake's coil comes and goes upon a rope. 26Bondage in becoming and release are two names given out of ignorance, and are nothing besides; they come of not knowing what is true. Looked into in the pure supreme self, whose being is unbroken awareness, they are like day and night in the sun.
27Taking you for the self, and for the higher, and for the supreme Self as well, and then going outside to hunt for the self: ah, the ignorance of ignorant people. 28Endless one, the good look for you alone within this becoming, letting go of what is not you. Even what is unreal is not given up apart from the real; how then do the good come to that quality which is real? 29And even so, god, only one favoured with a trace of the grace of your two lotus feet knows the truth of your greatness, Bhagavan, and no other, not one, though he search a long time.
