20A cowherd named Sridama, a friend of Rama and Kesava, and Subala and Stokakrsna and the other cowherds said this out of love. 21Rama, Rama, great-armed one; Krsna, destroyer of the wicked: not far from here there is a very great wood, thick with rows of palms. 22There the fruits are falling in plenty and many lie fallen; but they are all held back by the evil-natured Dhenuka. 23That demon is very strong, Rama; Krsna, he wears the form of an ass; and he has about him many other kinsmen as strong as himself. 24Because he has eaten men, killer of enemies, the wood is shunned by men in fear of him; no herds go there, and the flocks of birds have left it.
25There are sweet-smelling fruits there that no one has ever eaten. This is that sweet smell, spreading everywhere and reaching us. 26Give us those, Krsna. Our minds are drawn by the smell of them. There is a great wanting in us, Rama. Let us go, if it seems good to you.
