21Then a forest fire, risen in the parched woods, closed round the sleeping Vraja from every side at midnight and set about burning it. 22The people of Vraja got up in confusion, already burning, and went to Krsna for refuge, to the Lord who wore a man's shape by his own maya. 23Krsna, Krsna, greatly favoured one! Rama, whose valour has no measure! This most dreadful fire is swallowing us, and we are yours. 24Save us, master, your own people and your friends, from the fire of time that no one can cross. We cannot let go of your feet, where nothing can come at us from anywhere. 25Seeing his own people so badly shaken, the Lord of the world drank that fierce fire down, he who has no end and holds power without end.
