And the cows drink with lifted ears the nectar of the flute-song coming out of Krsna's mouth, and the calves stand with the milk running from the teat still held in their mouths, touching Govinda inside themselves with eyes full of tears. Mother, the birds in this forest are almost sages. They have looked at Krsna and heard that sweet flute-song of his, and they climb the arms of the trees with their bright new shoots and listen, not blinking, having given up all other speech. The rivers take in that song of Mukunda, and the desire that shows in their eddies breaks their current; with arms of waves closed round him in an embrace they take hold of the two feet of Murari and offer him lotuses.

Seeing him in the heat driving the animals of Vraja with Rama and the cowherds and sounding his flute as he went, a cloud rose up, grown big with love, and out of its own body and rows of flowers it made a parasol for its friend.
