One who has one thing to live by and goes to another for his living gets no good of it, as an unfaithful wife gets none of a lover. A brahmin should live by the Veda, a kshatriya by guarding the earth, a vaisya by his trade, and a sudra by serving the twice-born. Ploughing, trading and cow-keeping, with lending at interest called the fourth: trade is of these four kinds, and ours is always the one with cows. Clarity, passion and darkness are the causes of standing, of coming to be and of ending. By passion this world is brought forth, various and mixed one thing with another. Driven by passion the clouds rain their water down everywhere, and creatures come through on that alone. What will great Indra do?

We have no cities, no country districts, no villages, and no houses. We live in the forest, father, always at home in the woods and on the hills.
