4As an infant with his eyes still shut he drank the breast of the mighty Putana, and her life along with it, as time drinks the body's youth. 5At a month old he lay on his back and cried and kicked his feet up, and the cart was struck by his toe and turned over and fell. 6At a year old, sitting up, he was carried off through the sky by the demon, and he killed Trnavarta, who was in agony from the grip on his throat. 7Once, for stealing fresh butter, he was tied to a mortar by his mother; and going between the two arjuna trees he brought them both down with his arms. 8Driving the calves in the woods with Rama, ringed about by the boys, he took the enemy Baka, who meant to kill him, in both hands and split him open from the beak.
9One came in among the calves in the shape of a calf, meaning to kill; he killed him, and brought down the wood-apples with him, in play.
