The cowherd women, searching for the Bhagavan's track, saw not far off their friend, bewildered and in pain at being parted from the one she loved. Hearing what she told them, both the regard she had got from Madhava and the slighting she had got by her own bad-heartedness, they came to the greatest astonishment. Then they went into the wood as far as the moonlight reached; and seeing that the dark had come in, the women turned back. Their minds on him, their talk of him, their movements his, made of him, singing his qualities and nothing else, they did not remember their own houses. Coming back again to the bank of the Kalindi, thinking of Krsna, they gathered together and sang of Krsna, longing for him to come.
