25Today, surely, there will be a great festival for the eyes of the Dasarhas and Bhojas and Andhakas and Vrsnis and Satvatas, and for those on the road who will see Devaki's son, the lover of Sri, the place where every good quality rests. 26Let no one so pitiless carry that name. Akrura, no-cruelty: it is far too hard a word. He will not comfort people in deep grief, and he will take the dearest away from those who love him, to the far end of the road. 27Here he stands on the chariot, and his mind will not soften; and behind him these cowherds, wildly excited, hurry him on with their carts; and the old men have let it pass; and today even fate works against us.
28Let us go up to Madhava and stop him. What could the elders of the family, our own kin, do to us? Fate has torn us, wretched as we are, from the company of Mukunda, which is not to be given up for half a blink. 29In whose company at the rasa, with his loving lovely smile and his sweet words, his playing look, his embrace, the nights went by for us like a moment: without him, cowherd women, how shall we get across a darkness that has no end? 30He who at the day's end comes into Vraja, the friend of the Endless, ringed by cowherds, his hair and his garland powdered with the dust of hooves, sounding his flute, and wears our thought away with a smiling look from the corner of his eye: without him, how are we to be at all?
31Saying this, the women of Vraja, worn down by the parting, their minds caught fast in Krsna, let their shame go and wept aloud: Govinda, Damodara, Madhava.
