Marking their wonderful greatness, king, and a mind more than human, the brahmin took counsel with his wife and asked for his boy, who had died in the great sea at Prabhasa. So be it, they said; and the two great chariot fighters, whose force has no end, mounted a chariot, reached Prabhasa, went up to the shore and sat a moment. The sea knew them and brought them an offering. Bhagavan said to it: Give up at once the teacher's son, the boy you swallowed here with your great wave. I did not take him, god. There is a great Daitya, Pancajana, Krsna, a demon who moves under the water wearing the shape of a conch. He is there, and surely the boy was carried off by him. Hearing that, the Lord went swiftly into the water and killed him, and did not see the child inside him.

Taking the conch that had grown out of that body, he came back to the chariot; and from there to the city named Samyamani, which is dear to Yama. Janardana went there with the bearer of the plough and blew the conch. Yama, who holds all creatures in check, heard the roar of that conch, and made them a great worship, swollen with devotion, and bowed down and said to Krsna, in whom the hearts of all beings are lodged: Visnu, you two are men in play. What are we to do for you?
