Nanda came out to Krsna's dear companion as he arrived, and gladly took him in his arms and honoured him, holding him in his mind as Vasudeva himself. When he had been fed with the finest food, and had settled comfortably on a couch, and his weariness had gone with the rubbing of his feet and the rest, Nanda asked him: Tell me, dear one, greatly favoured one, is our friend the son of Sura well? Is he free now, with his children and the rest about him, and holding to what a friend owes his friends? By good fortune wicked Kamsa has been killed with his followers, by his own wickedness: he who always hated the Yadus, who are good men and keep to dharma.

Does Krsna remember us at all: his mother, his friends and his companions, the cowherds, and Vraja that had him for its lord, the cows, Vrndavana, the hill? Will Govinda come even once to look at his own people? Then we would see that face of his, the fine nose, the eyes with their good smile.
