The churning before dawn· Verses 44–46

So that night went by, king, while Nanda and Krsna's companion talked; and the cowherd women got up, set out their lamps, worshipped the places of the house, and churned the curds. They shone in the lamplight with their jewels as they pulled the ropes, garlands of bangles on their arms, their hips and breasts and necklaces and earrings swinging, their cheeks bright, their faces red with saffron. The sound of the women of Vraja singing out about the lotus-eyed one touched the sky, and mixed with the noise of the curds being churned; by it whatever is inauspicious is driven from the quarters.
