These stretches of river and hill and wood, these cows, these flute notes, were all used by Krsna, master, with Sankarsana for his companion. Again and again they bring the son of the cowherd Nanda back to us. With his footprints there, the home of Sri, we cannot forget him at all. Our minds have been carried off by his easy walk, his open laughing, the glances he plays with, his honeyed speech. How are we to forget him? Lord! Lord of Fortune! Lord of Vraja, destroyer of pain! Govinda, lift Gokula out, it is sinking in a sea of trouble! Then, the fever of the parting gone out of them with Krsna's messages, they honoured Uddhava, knowing him to be the one beyond the reach of the senses himself.
