21The son of Jara ran at the two Madhavas and covered them over with a great flood of a stronger force, army and chariots and banners and horses and drivers, as the wind covers the sun and the fire with clouds and dust. 22The women of the city, unable to make out the chariots of Hari and Rama in the fighting, marked with the banner of the great bird and of the palm, went up on the watchtowers and the great houses and the gates, and lost themselves, worn out with grief. 23Hari saw his own army pressed again and again by the wild rain of arrows from those rain clouds that were the enemy ranks, and made his Sarnga roar, best of bows, honoured by gods and antigods alike.
24Taking arrows from the quiver and fitting them, drawing and letting go volleys of sharpened shafts, striking down chariots and elephants and horses and men on foot, without a break in it, like a whirling firebrand.
