Verse 55

⁵⁵As she was about to climb into the chariot, Krsna carried the princess off in the sight of his enemies. Madhava set her on the chariot marked with Suparna and made nothing of that ring of kings. ⁵⁶Then, with Rama and his men going before him, Hari went slowly away, like a lion carrying his share out from among the jackals. ⁵⁷Those proud enemies, Jarasandha and the rest, could not bear this overpowering of themselves and this loss of honour. Ah, shame on us, they said: the honour of men who carry bows has been taken by cowherds, as deer might take it from lions.
