22Hearing this unwelcome thing, never heard before, from the lord of the lords of the three worlds, who was her own self and dear to her, the lady was frightened, a trembling came into her heart, and weeping she went into a trouble that had no end. 23With her fine foot, lovely with the red of its nails, she scratched at the ground; and with tears black from her eye-paint she wet her breasts, red with saffron; and she stood with her face down, her voice stopped by too much grief. 24Her judgement was destroyed by grief and fear and sorrow, and the fan fell from her hand as her bangles slipped down; and her body too, her mind broken, fainted all at once and scattered her hair, like a plantain struck down by the wind.
25Seeing that binding of love in his dear one, who did not know how far the joke went, the Bhagavan Krsna, who is full of pity, pitied her. 26He came down from the couch at once and raised her up with his four arms, gathered her hair together, and wiped her face with his lotus hand. 27He wiped her eyes wet with tears and her breasts hurt with grief, and held that true woman, who had no other object, in his arm, king, 28and comforted her, knowing how to comfort, the mighty one, pitying the wretched, whose mind was going astray at the reach of the joke and who did not deserve it: he who is the way of the good.
