1One day, king, the young men of the Yadus went out to a garden to amuse themselves: Samba and Pradyumna, Caru, Bhanu, Gada and the others. 2Having played there a long while, they grew thirsty and went looking for water; and in a well that had no water in it they saw an astonishing creature. 3Seeing a lizard the size of a hill, their minds were struck with wonder, and out of pity they set about getting it out. 4The boys tied the fallen thing with straps of hide and ropes of thread, and still could not raise it. Worked up about it, they went and told Krsna. 5The lotus-eyed Bhagavan, out of whom the world comes, came there, looked at it, and lifted it out with his left hand, in play.
