marked out with conch and discus, sword and mace and the Sarnga bow and the Srivatsa and the rest, wearing the Kaustubha jewel and decked with a garland of the woods, dressed in two yellow silk garments, with Garuda on his banner, with a crown and ornaments beyond price and flashing sea-monster earrings. Seeing him got up in a made-up dress that copied his own, Hari laughed hard, as one laughs at an actor who has come out on the stage. The enemy struck at Hari with spears and maces and iron bars, with javelins and lances and darts and pikes, with swords and battle-axes and arrows. But Krsna tore hard into that force of Paundraka and the king of Kasi, with its elephants and chariots and horses and foot, using mace and sword and discus and arrows, as at the end of an age the fire that eats the offering tears into creatures one by one.

That battlefield, thick with chariots and horses and elephants, with men and asses and camels broken up by the discus, shone. It brought joy to men of spirit, and it was as fearful as the playground of the lord of spirits.
