King, Samba the son of Jambavati, who wins where he fights, carried off Duryodhana's daughter Laksmana as she stood at her own choosing. The Kauravas were angry and said: This boy has no breeding. He made nothing of us and carried our girl off by force, and she did not want to go. Tie this ill-bred fellow up. What will the Vrsnis do? They live off land we gave them, and what they have they built up by our favour. If the Vrsnis do come here, when they hear their son has been seized, their pride will be broken and they will go quiet, like breaths well held in. So Karna, Sala, Bhuri, Yajnaketu and Suyodhana set about binding Samba, and the elders of the Kurus approved it.
