6Seeing Dhrtarastra's sons running at him, Samba, a great chariot-fighter, took up his shining bow and stood alone, like a lion. 7In their anger, wanting to take him, calling out, Stand, stand, the bowmen with Karna at their head came up and covered him with arrows. 8Struck at like this by the Kurus, best of the Kurus, the joy of the Yadus did not put up with it, that boy whose powers are past thinking, any more than a lion puts up with small game. 9Twanging his shining bow, the hero pierced all six of the chariot-fighters headed by Karna with as many arrows, all at once and each one on his own. 10With four arrows he took the four horses of each, and with one apiece the charioteers, and the chariot-fighters, those great bowmen; and they honoured that in him.
11But the four of them broke his chariot from under him and killed his four horses. One killed his charioteer, and another cut his bow through. 12Having got him out of his chariot and bound him, with much labour in the fighting, the Kurus went into their own city as victors, with the boy and with their own girl.
