Krsna, Krsna, self beyond measure, breaker of the fear of those who come to you: we go to you for refuge, afraid of birth and death, our minds still divided. This world is set on wrong action and heedless of what is good for it, of that action you have declared, which is the honouring of you. Homage to the one who is strong here and who cuts off in a moment its hope of living, the one who does not blink. You, the master of the world, have come down here with a portion to guard the good and hold down the wicked. Lord, we do not know how anyone else goes past your command, or whether a man is simply meeting what he himself has done.

A king's happiness is a thing dreamt, lord, and it lies in another's hands; always in fear, we carry its yoke with this corpse of a body. Letting go the happiness in the self, which is had from you by wanting nothing, we suffer here in your maya, and we are wretched indeed. So free us, who are bound, from the cord of works that goes by the name of Magadha, you whose two feet take away the sorrow of those who bow. He alone carries the strength of ten thousand rutting elephants, and he has penned kings up in his house as the king of beasts pens ewes. Twice nine times your raised discus broke him in battle. Then once he beat you, whose strength has no end, while you were taken up with the world of men, and he swelled with pride, and now he grinds us down, who are your own people. Unconquered one, do something about it.

So say those shut up by the Magadha, who long for the sight of you and have come to the soles of your feet. Let it be made well for these wretched men.
